Laydown Lowdown


Labor day, the unofficial end of Summer, has now come and gone, The cool nights signal that Fall is on it's way.  What better way to beat the end of summer blahs than curling up with a good book?  Fortunately, there are a lot of new choices this week.

Best-selling author Melissa Marr's latest Young Adult series, "Carnival of Souls," debuts today along with the fourth novel in the "Tiger's Curse," series, "Tiger's Destiny," by Colleen Houck.  Other new releases include the first YA novel by best-selling novelist Elizabeth George, "The Edge of Nowhere," plus Carmen Rodrigues' second novel, "34 Pieces of You."  Please check back tomorrow for an interview with Carmen and a review of "34 Pieces of You." 


Move over to Mystery and you'll find "Detroit Breakdown," by D.E. Johnson, "The Other Woman," by Hank Phillipi Ryan, and "Gone," by Randy Wayne White. 


Saunter over to Sci-Fi/Fantasy and you'll find a small cure for the fangover most of us are suffering from while "True Blood," is on hiatus.  Charlaine Harris has edited a short-story anthology, "An Apple for the Creature," that features an all new Sookie Stackhouse story.  Other new releases in the genre include: "Lord of the Mountains," by S.M. Stirling, "Slow Apoclypse," John Varley, and "The Dirty Streets of Heaven," by Tad Williams.


Roam over to Romance and you'll discover the latest by best selling author Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) "The Lost Night," Dance with the Devil," by Sherilyn Kenyon, "Nauti and Wild," by Lora Leigh and "A Tale of Two Vampires," by Katie MacAlister.


Other new releases of note include the latest by Mitch Albom, "The Time Keepers."
